Day 1: Arrival in Hobart

• Arrive in Hobart, where you will be met by a representative of Aurora Expeditions and transferred to your assigned pre-voyage hotel.

• This afternoon, visit the Aurora Expeditions hospitality desk to collect your luggage tags and receive information about embarkation.

• Enjoy a Welcome Reception and Pre-Embarkation Briefing in the evening.

Day 2: Embarkation

• Enjoy breakfast and check out of your hotel.

• Take your cabin luggage to the hotel reception by 11:00 am for transfer to the port.

• Spend the morning exploring Hobart.

• Settle into your cabin on the Douglas Mawson and enjoy panoramic views of the Hobart foreshore as you set sail down the Derwent River.

Days 3-5: At Sea

• Relax and enjoy life on board as you cross the Southern Ocean.

• Participate in lectures about Antarctic history, environment, and wildlife.

• Take time to relax, meet fellow travelers, and enjoy onboard amenities like the sauna, gym, and polar library.

Days 6-7: Macquarie Island

• Visit Macquarie Island, a wildlife sanctuary known for its diverse species.

• Explore the island's unique landscapes and observe its rich wildlife.

Days 8-10: At Sea

• As Macquarie Island disappears from view, keep watch for various albatross species.

• Notice the change in sea conditions as you cross the Antarctic Convergence, signaling entry into Antarctic waters.

• Look for porpoising penguins, Antarctic petrels, and snow petrels.

• Enjoy onboard activities and prepare for the next phase of your voyage.

Days 11-15: East Antarctic Coast

• Sail through the pack ice and explore the East Antarctic coastline.

• Visit historic sites like Commonwealth Bay and Cape Denison, where Mawson's main base was located.

• Enjoy Zodiac cruises to see emperor penguins, Weddell seals, and orcas.

Day 23: At Sea

• Reflect on your experiences as you head towards Dunedin.

• Organize your photos, write in your journal, or simply relax on board.

Day 24: Disembarkation in Dunedin

• Farewell your expedition team and fellow passengers after breakfast.

• Disembark in Dunedin, concluding your voyage.

• It is recommended not to book flights departing before 12:00 pm in case of delays.
