Day 1: Arrive Dunedin

• Arrive in Dunedin, where you will be met by a representative of Aurora Expeditions and transferred with your fellow expeditioners to your assigned pre-voyage hotel.

• This afternoon, visit the Aurora Expeditions hospitality desk in the lobby to collect your luggage tags.

• Enjoy light refreshments at a Welcome Reception and Pre-Embarkation Briefing.

• Spend the evening in New Zealand’s southernmost city, exploring Dunedin's fine restaurants or strolling along the picturesque Otago harbour.

Day 2: Embarkation

• Enjoy breakfast and check-out.

• Spend the morning at leisure exploring Dunedin.

• By 11:00 am, take your cabin luggage to hotel reception for transfer to the port.

• Settle into your cabin on board the Douglas Mawson and join your expedition team on deck before dinner.

Day 3: At Sea

• Relax and acclimatize to life on board.

• Meet fellow travelers and learn about the history, environment, and local wildlife through lectures and presentations.

• Enjoy amenities like the sauna, Wellness Centre, gym, or polar library.

Days 4-6: New Zealand Subantarctic Islands

• Visit the Auckland Islands and Campbell Island.

• Explore the unique ecosystems and wildlife of these islands.

Days 7-10: At Sea

• Attend presentations, film showings, or socialize with fellow travelers.

• Keep watch for seabirds and marine life.

Days 11-17: Victoria Land Coast and Ross Sea

• Explore the Ross Sea region, a globally significant wildlife sanctuary.

• Visit historic sites like the Ross Ice Shelf, Franklin Island, and McMurdo Sound.

• Attempt to land at preserved huts from early explorers.

Days 18-20: At Sea

• Relax and enjoy the Southern Ocean's wildlife, including albatrosses following the ship.

Days 21-22: Macquarie Island

• Discover the magnificent wildlife on Macquarie Island, a wildlife sanctuary.

Days 23-24: At Sea

• Reflect on the experiences of the past few weeks.

• Organize photos, journal entries, or simply relax.

Day 25: Disembark Dunedin

• After breakfast, farewell your expedition team and fellow passengers.

• Disembark in Dunedin, concluding the voyage.
