Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: The beat of Buenos Aires

    Feel the rhythm of Buenos Aires and get into the spirit of adventure. An overnight stay in Buenos Aires is the ideal way to start your Antarctic voyage. Home to a proud and diverse community of porteños, or ‘people of the port’, the city is a sensuous fusion of faded European splendor and Latin American panache. There are plenty of places to explore, including many parrillas serving authentic Argentine steak. Or maybe you’d like to practice your dance moves in the famous hometown of the tango. Why not consider arriving a few days early to see all this vibrant city has to offer.

  2. Day 2: Heading south

    Set sail from the capital of Tierra del Fuego. The morning begins with an early morning flight to Ushuaia. This port city is the capital of Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego Province, and it’s set against the magnificently rugged backdrop of the Andes mountains. Ushuaia vies for the title of the world’s southernmost city, and it’s from here that many adventures to Antarctica set out—including ours. You’ll be welcomed aboard your hybrid-powered expedition ship – specially designed for exploring polar waters – and after a briefing from your Expedition Team there will be time to settle into your cabin and explore the comforts and amenities on board.

  3. Day 3: Crossing the Drake Passage

    Get into adventure mode and learn about the nature and science of Antarctica. Join the Expedition Team in the Science Center, listen to experts talk about Antarctica’s history, scientific study, and environmental concerns. Relax in the spa, enjoy cuisine, and meet fellow travelers.

  4. Day 4: Crossing the Drake Passage

    Continue crossing the Drake Passage. Participate in Citizen Science projects, relax in the spa and wellness area, or enjoy the Explorer Lounge & Bar.

  5. Day 5: Antarctica: another world

    Experience all the wonders of the Antarctic Peninsula. Silence and serenity infuse your soul as we sail past looming glaciers and cathedral-sized icebergs. Wildlife includes penguins, leopard seals, whales, and seabirds. We spend nine action-packed days exploring several of the many possible landing sites. This day begins exploration of the South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Sound, Weddell Sea, Gerlache Strait, and Penola Strait.

  6. Day 6: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions with landings and wildlife viewing.

  7. Day 7: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions with flexibility to adapt to conditions.

  8. Day 8: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions.

  9. Day 9: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions.

  10. Day 10: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions.

  11. Day 11: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions.

  12. Day 12: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions.

  13. Day 13: Antarctica: another world

    Continued exploration of Antarctic regions. Back on board, Expedition Team lectures continue.

  14. Day 14: Back through the Drake Passage

    Begin the return trip across the Drake Passage. Enjoy time at sea, participate in Science Center activities, relax in the spa, and share experiences in the Explorer Lounge & Bar.

  15. Day 15: Back through the Drake Passage

    Continue crossing the Drake Passage. Join the Expedition Team for deeper insights, contribute to Citizen Science, and enjoy onboard amenities.

  16. Day 16: Ushuaia and Buenos Aires

    Your expedition cruise ends in Ushuaia. From here, you’ll take a flight back to Buenos Aires. Optional Post-Program available to extend the adventure.
