Fossil-bearing rocks from ancient Antarctica

Overview

A largely ice-covered island southwest of Livingston Island, notable for President Head Peninsula with its exposed geological formations and fossil-bearing sedimentary rocks.

Detailed Description

Snow Island lies southwest of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, separated by the 6km-wide Morton Strait. The island is approximately 90% ice-covered, with outcrops mainly restricted to President Head Peninsula at the northern end.
